Give each container a reference
Choose a reference you can associate with the actual container, and keep the corresponding contents record accessible to the intended adult. Do not rely only on powder color, container shape or memory.

Complete the identity record
| Field | Record before placing it on the shelf |
|---|---|
| Container reference | The identifier used for this actual container |
| Intended adult | Person for whom the contents were prepared |
| Powder identity | Actual product and variety from the original label |
| Original directions | Where the package or readable label can be consulted |
| Prepared amount | Separately determined amount and unit, if known |
| Current state | Empty, ready to fill, or prepared for a specific trip |
The record is an organizational aid, not a replacement for the original product directions. FDA’s dietary-supplement questions and answers provides category and labeling background; it does not endorse this container.
Check at the handoff
Before taking a prepared container, match its reference, contents and intended user. If any of those are uncertain, verify the identity before use. Do not add a new powder to an unidentified mixture.
Reset the record when contents change
Empty and clean the container according to its care directions, dry the accessible surfaces, then update the record for the next contents. This workflow does not establish allergen removal or eliminate cross-contact.
